How can I remove the gas lift?

Removing from the rocking mechanism

Place the rocking mechanism on the floor with the gas spring fully retracted and stand firmly on it with both feet.

Then use a rubber mallet to strike the end of the gas spring that is seated in the rocking mechanism from different angles, while pulling on the upper end at the same time. This process requires some strength and patience.

Removing from the chair base

Place the chair base upright on the floor and hold the gas spring firmly.

Hit the lower end of the gas spring with a rubber mallet until it detaches from the chair base.
